Introduction to the neighborhood West Roxbury Boarders Roslindale and Hyde Park. West Roxbury is separated from Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and Roslindale. Founded in 1630 West Roxbury was part of the town of Roxbury and was mostly farmland. In 1874 it was annexed by Boston in 1874. West Roxbury main commercial thoroughfare is Centre Street. Today West Roxbury has approximately 30,446 people.
