Kitchen Direction and Paint Color

September 16, 2024 by Page Innis Leave a Comment

Buyers and sellers might see kitchen or room direction as quirky. Some of the quirks are cultural. Feng Shui is the Chinese practice of maximizing the flow of energy. If a home is built correctly, feng shui should attract wealth.

  • Find love
  • Keep your relationship stable.
  • Achieve career success
  • Improve your health
  • Increase your vitality
  • Guard against misfortune

and many other benefits make Feng Shui a versatile and comprehensive practice. Different cultures consider the floor a home is located on to be good or bad luck. However, what if I told you the direction of your kitchen or room should dictate what color you paint it? The idea behind it does have some logic, so hear me out. Natural light affects how the color looks and can affect whether we think a room is larger or smaller. The room’s color is essential, and your home’s direction can guide your paint choice, especially for the kitchen, but it’s an excellent element to consider when painting any room in your house or apartment.

North Facing Kitchens- Warm Neutrals

South Facing Kitchen- Soft Tones

East Facing Kitchens- Pastels

West Facing Kitchens- Cool Tones

North-facing

North-facing kitchens often need more light than south-facing kitchens. A lack of natural light can make a kitchen appear darker, so the color choice is essential. Lighter, warmer shades like yellows and creams can make north-facing kitchens feel brighter, larger, and more welcoming.

South-facing

South-facing kitchens get a lot of light so that you can experiment with more color. Pale, soft tones, whites, and pastels can be more playful. Dark colors, like dark blue and dark green, can be used as accent colors to give rooms depth, but they are used in moderation.

East-Facing

East-facing kitchens get morning light but less later, so use bright colors and balance the light. Soft tans, beiges, light greens, blues, or purples work well to create warmth and adapt to changing light. These colors work with natural light and extend the brightness throughout the day, even when natural light disappears.

West Facing

West Facing Kitchens: See more natural light in the late afternoon before sunset. Which west facing can offer up a warm golden tone of lighting within the kitchen space. You want to choose a color that isn’t manageable for the space: White or a cool-toned gray for west-facing kitchens. Cool tones like white and light gray balance the warmth of golden hour lighting, creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.

Before you decide on the paint color, grab a compass to see how you think of painting your kitchen or room faces. Before you paint your Kitchen light green, it might be better suited to be painted gray. So, next time a client wants to know what way a room faces, it is a decision for many decisions a homeowner might make, from making a room feel brighter or even more significant. Directions: Are you facing, and are you wondering now that you read this if your room is painted the right color to maximize the space, look, and feel? If yes, you’re welcome. If you need help styling your home or thinking of listing your house and wondering if you should revamp your space before you come to market, contact me.
